This winter wedding took the bride & groom back to the city where they met whilst at University. The theme was clear from the beginning, wintery, not Christmassy and whilst the catering is important, the design is key.
This was possibly one of the most beautiful winter weddings I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Not only did the clients want to ensure the wedding looked beautiful, they were keen to make sure every single guest was looked after and enjoying themselves.
The design process began with a simple phrase; “winter wedding, not Christmassy” and we took this into account when searching for the perfect venue, although the choice was simple when we found out the Bride & Groom met at Oxford University when studying together, enter; Bodleian Libraries.
The venue itself is gorgeous, it’s gothic arcitecture, tall ceilings and nearby cobbled streets. Being a working library with daily tours, we had to ensure the design and timings were perfect and still completely unique. We decided to host the wedding ceremony within Divinty School and keep it simple with warm lighting, candlelight and a choir.
As we went through ideas, we decided the best thing to do would be to hire the Sheldonian Theatre for both the Drinks Reception and After Party, this gave us then the perfect amount of time to turn Divinity School into the dreamy winter wedding wonderland that the Bride & Groom had dreamt of. The guests walked back in to the room to a complete transformation, dark blue lighting and three long tables to create that dramatic design they desired.
A long runner of flowers with sprayed silver foilage ran down each table spilling onto the floor at the end. The table design was then carefully chosen to complement the overall design.
Once guests had finished their dinner, they were taken back into the Sheldonian Theatre where the incredible Jam Hot band played through the night under a canopy of balloons with bespoke cocktails being served along side the Whiskey Bar. The perfect way to end this winter city wedding..
